Welcome to the Heartbeat episode guide. From 10th April 1992 to 12th September 2010 there have been a total of 372 episodes, plus a one-off episode in Canada and various documentaries about the show.

1 10 10th April 1992 - 12th June 1992 The first series sees Nick and his doctor wife settle into Aidensfied, having left the bustle of London behind. As villagers initial suspicion gives way to acceptance, the couple become increasingly involved, both professionally and personally, in the daily life of the rural community.
2 10 18th April 1993 - 20th June 1993 This series sees the rural community life continue for Nick and Kate and they now finally seem to be settled in and feel accepted in Aidensfield.
3 10 3rd October 1993 - 5th December 1993 This series sees a number of high profile guest appereances including Daniel Craig, Dora Bryan, Clive Swift and Susan Jameson.
4 16 4th September 1994 - 25th December 1994 This series also sees a number of high profile guest apperances including Twiggy, Tim Healy, David McCallum, Thora Hird, Jenny Agutter and Frank Finlay.
5 15 3rd September 1995 - 10th December 1995 During this series, the love story between Kate and Nick ends in tragedy. Nick is overwhelmed by a dark could of grief and shock and is forced into a new traumatizing chapter in his life.
6 17 1st September 1996 - 25th December 1996 In this series, Nick is beginning to join in with village life again thanks to Kates Aunite Eileen. An assault on Nick and Phil in the Aidensfield Arms is a far from simple case, while Gina finds a knight in shining armor.
7 24 31st August 1997 - 22nd February 1998 This series sees the transition between lead characters PC Nick Rowan and PC Mike Bradley as well as a feature length special which sees Nick leave for Canada. Also in the series; Sgt. Blaketon is forced to retire.
8 24 6th September 1998 - 28th February 1999 Mike Bradley is finding his way with his new posting in Aidensfield-having to contend with stolen radioactive isotopes, witchcraft, baby snatching, murderous intent, UFOs and the continual suspicious behaviour of Greengrass.
9 24 26th September 1999 - 5th March 2000 This series sees Mike and Jackie plan a secret wedding, whilst Nurse Bolton comes to terms with being a single mum, and now landlady Gina continues to be unlucky in love. Gary Barlow and a number of others guest star.
10 24 22nd October 2000 - 8th April 2001 Mike and Jackie settled into married life and new Doctor Summerbee is settling in at Ashfordly General. There's romance for Gina and PC Phil Bellamy and Craddocks men face some of their hardest cases yet. Whilst Claude Greengrass has a dramatic change of scene, he leaves Aidensfield for good!

12 25 6th October 2002 - 18th May 2003 Set in a North Yorkshire village during the 1960s, Heartbeat's combination of crime and medical storylines, charismatic regular characters and wonderfully nostalgic soundtrack made it staple Sunday-night viewing for two decades, with the series' many prestigious awards including Best Performing Peak-Time Drama and several ITV Programme of the Year awards. Attracting a peak audience of 14 million, Heartbeat has garnered a devoted following and remains prime-time viewing world-wide.
In this series, dramatic events lead PC Mike Bradley to bid farewell to Aidensfield, while young, ambitious PC Steve Crane arrives at Ashfordly station determined to prove his abilities. Guests include Lulu, William Gaunt, Geoff Hinsliff, and Jean Alexander - briefly returning as feisty farmer Lily Barton; the series also introduces the cast of Heartbeat's immensely popular spin-off, The Royal.

This series sees the marriage of Sgt. Merton and pharmacist Jenny Latimer, with PC Steve Crane tackling a wide range of cases while putting his role as Community Liaison Officer into practice. PC Bellamy plays the waiting game with Gina, Vernon comes to terms with life with - and without - his fortune, and the series reaches a dramatic climax when a bitter custody battle ends in tragedy.

Sophie Ward joins the cast as Dr Helen Trent, for whom the move to Aidensfield with husband Matt marks a bold new beginning. Fresh-faced young mechanic Rosie starts work at the garage, and Ashfordly station's new recruits include PC Rob Walker, a local lad with an unlikely family background. David, meanwhile, faces a whole new chapter of woe with the unannounced arrival of his roguish Aunt Peggy...

This series sees more challenging situations arising for Aidensfield's police and medical staff, as PC Phil Bellamy faces personal trauma during a hunt for two escaped prisoners, Dr Helen Trent finds herself under suspicion in a suspected case of mercy-killing, and Sgt Miller is involved in a tragedy that leaves his career hanging in the balance. Guest stars include Peter Vaughan, George Cole, Elizabeth Spriggs, Leslie Phillips, Phyllis Logan and Tim Brooke-Taylor.

This series sees Aidensfield's police and medical staff dealing with more challenging situations - both professional and personal. PC Rob Walker is slowly coming to terms with the death of wife Helen; a tentative romance begins to blossom between the young officer and Aidensfield's new District Nurse, Carol Cassidy. By the series' end, however, he is facing one of the hardest decisions of his life...

Featuring guest turns from Eric Sykes, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor, among others, this series introduces new village bobbies Joe Mason and Don Wetherby and sees the final episode of one of Heartbeat's best-loved characters - PC Phil Bellamy, played for 16 years by Mark Jordon.

SPECIAL FEATURE: Farewell Phil Mark Jordon's departure is marked with a special edition, screened on Christmas Eve in 2007, which looks at the highs and lows of Phil Bellamy's life in Aidensfield - from the joys of finding love, to the loss of his only son.

18 24 12th October 2008 - 12th September 2010 All 24 episodes from the 18th series of the Yorkshire Television police drama. In this, the last series of the show, long-running characters such as PC Alf Ventress (William Simons), Oscar Blaketon (Derek Fowlds) and Gina Ward (Tricia Penrose) make their final screen appearances.
